Cardamom Hot Chocolate

My favourite spice in the history of all spices?  Cardamom. I will put cardamom into any dessert, drink or savoury dish when I can; like this creamy cardamom spiced hot chocolate!  Cardamom and chocolate play well together and are both such warm flavours. I’ve used heavy cream in addition to milk (1% is what my family drinks) to add richness to the hot chocolate. Feel free to substitute the milk with any dairy free milk as well!

Hot Chocolate-39

Simple to make and even more delicious to drink. Top with your favourite marshmallows like my Candied Ginger Marshmallows for a spicy kick like I’ve done below. The marshmallows melt beautifully into the hot chocolate…mmm melted marshmallows.

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add milk and cardamom.  Bring to a simmer.
  2. In heat proof glass, heat heavy cream in the microwave for 2 minutes until hot, alternatively over a stove top to a simmer.  Pour over chocolate and mix to combine.
